Key Updates (January 4 - January 11, 2026)
  • Claims Error Resolution: Discovery Health made a processing error in 2025, which resulted in certain members' claims on specific plans (Executive, Classic Comprehensive, Classic Smart Comprehensive, Classic Priority, and Essential Priority) being incorrectly paid out at a higher rate than the plan benefits allowed.
  • Initial Repayment Request: Affected members were initially notified in January 2026 that they would need to repay the amounts. This caused considerable distress and public outcry.
  • Discovery Absorbs Costs: Following the backlash, Discovery Health announced it would absorb the full cost of the overpayments, meaning affected members will not be required to repay any amounts related to the error.
  • Member Reimbursements and Support: Any deductions already made to members' accounts (Medical Savings Accounts, Personal Health Fund, or HealthPay) will be reinstated, and members who have already repaid amounts will be refunded in full. A dedicated service team will contact affected members directly.
